Date: March 17, 2019

The Pirates began their day by getting their second win against the Chattanooga Mocs in a week, by the score of 8-2.

Seton Hall began the afternoon with an RBI single from catcher Payton Beaver to take an early lead. Chattanooga then scored their only runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning, with an RBI groundout and an RBI single by infielders Emma Sturdivant and Halie Williamson, respectively.

The Pirates proceeded to regain the lead in the top of the second inning, with a sacrifice fly from outfielder Hailey Arteaga and an RBI single from infielder Baylee Allender. Seton Hall increased their lead in the 4th inning with outfielder Marisa Pla scoring on multiple errors from Chattanooga.

The Pirates then blew the game open with 4 runs in the final inning with RBI singles from catcher Katherine Matthys, pitcher Chrissa Head and the outfielder Arteaga.

Seton Hall’s Madison Strunk received the win with a three strikeout performance and Chattanooga’s Allison Swinford received the loss by allowing six hits in 1.2 innings of work.

After scoring 8 runs in the first game of their doubleheader against Chattanooga, the Seton Hall Pirates were shut out by the Purdue Boilermakers, 7-0.

Purdue grabbed an early lead in the top of the first inning, with an RBI double from infielder Jenny Behan.

The first inning was a sign of things to come from the Pirates, with a strikeout from outfielder Janae Barracato, and fly outs from outfielder Hailey Arteaga and infielder Baylee Allender.

The Boilermakers increased their lead in the second inning with a two RBI double from utility player Mallory Baker. The Hall then struck out three more times, continuing the early offensive struggles.

Purdue then put the game out of reach in the fourth inning, with a three RBI single from outfielder Kasey Wilhoit and a home run from infielder Lexi Huffman.

All in all, this was a quiet game for The Hall, with only three hits and four sloppy errors, which was the polar opposite from the first game of the doubleheader, when the Pirates scored at will against Chattanooga.

Purdue’s Sydney Bates received a well-earned win for her 10 strikeout performance, and Seton Hall’s Reganne Camp received the loss for allowing seven hits and four earned runs.

The Pirates will travel to Riverdale, NY to face the Manhattan Jaspers on March 21 at 3 p.m.
