Seton Hall lost to Providence at the Dunkin Donuts Center, 72-63, handing the Pirates two straight losses after a 12-4 start.

The Pirates seemed to have control in the first half, as Myles Cale started out hot from three point range, nailing two threes within the first ten minutes of play. The Friars answered back throughout the half, eventually taking the lead, until Seton Hall fired back. The Pirates headed into the locker room with a 33-30 advantage.

Providence came out of the second half gates firing on all cylinders, making threes that they have struggled to make all season long. The Friars extended their lead to 47-40, until Seton Hall had a little run of their own. Both teams traded buckets until the under four timeout, as Providence started to pull away.

The Friars held a two possession lead with just a few minutes remaining, going one for two from the charity stripe on three different occasions. Seton Hall wasn’t able to capitalize however, as careless turnovers left the mark on what could have been a huge road win.

Playing well for the Pirates were Quincy McKnight (16 points, 4 assists) and Michael Nzei (10 points, 8 rebounds). The winning Friars were led by David Duke (18 points) and Alpha Diallo (15 points, 8 rebounds), who picked up their first Big East win, almost a month into conference play.

Myles Powell and company will look to bounce back for a home game against DePaul on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. You can follow along on 89.5 FM WSOU, as Robert Towey and Mat Mlodzinski are on the call.
