Seton Hall Drops Final Game of Road Trip

Date: September 5, 2017

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ --- The Seton Hall Women's Soccer team (0-3-1) fell once again, this time to the Monmouth Hawks (2-2-1) in a 1-0 loss at Hesse Field down in West Long Branch, NJ.

Jessica Johnson (Howell, NJ) was able to score for Monmouth on a corner kick in the 53rd minute of the game for the only goal of the match. It was her first goal of the season and the second of her colligate career.

The Pirates were shutout for the second time this season as the offense once again was nonexistent. The Pirates took more shots than the Hawks, had more shots on goals, and still came up empty. Monmouth on the other hand played a more conservative game, as they only took six shots and had only two shots on goal, one of which found the back of the net.

One thing that has been going for both teams has been the defense. Seton Hall's defense once again kept the game close, but it was the lack of offense that did them in again.

The women's soccer team will look to pick up their offense this Thursday at Owen T. Carroll Field at 7 p.m. against the Marist Red Foxes (2-3) for their season home opener. Catch full coverage on wsou.net.
