The Seton Hall Women’s basketball team closed out the game on an 11-0 run to remain unbeaten, as the Pirates defeated Princeton 70-66 on Wednesday night, in their first road game of the season.

Like the team’s past three games, The Hall came out firing on all cylinders. In the first quarter alone, they hit five three pointers and built a 12-point lead by the end of the quarter.

In the third quarter, a layup from center Kimi Evans extended the Pirate lead to 18 as the score became 48-30. Eight personal fouls and five turnovers in the quarter allowed Princeton to come back in the game, as the Tigers trimmed Seton Halls lead to three going into the fourth quarter.

Guard Inja Butina, who tied for a game-high with three three-pointers, tried to create separation from Princeton as she nailed another triple to begin the fourth quarter, with the score now 57-51. Butina would finish with 13 points and three rebounds to go with three assists on the night.

The Pirates’ offense became stagnant as they committed costly turnovers that gave Princeton the lead. The Tigers made all three free throws after being fouled from beyond the arc, which gave them a 61-57 lead.

With just over two minutes remaining in the game, the Pirates found themselves in a seven-point hole. The leading scorer for the Pirates, forward Shadeen Samuels, rattled in a three-pointer to cut the lead to four and followed a layup from guard Kaela Hilaire with a score in the paint to tie the game.

Guard Nicole Jimenez made the game-separating layup with just four seconds remaining as Seton Hall grabbed the lead again, 68-66.

Princeton had a chance to tie the game within the last seconds, but a Hilaire steal and fast break layup sealed the victory for Seton Hall.

Samuels recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds, on her way to her second consecutive 20-point game this season.

Improving to 4-0 this season, The Pirates will go on another road trip as they travel to Los Angeles to play UCLA on Nov. 18.
