 Here is a preview of the stories covered in this week's Pirate News Desk:

-- The Lewinson Center for the Study of Labor, Inequality & Social Justice is working with Seton Hall University to participate in a teach-in on race on Feb. 6-7. A lecture by Dr. Jelani Cobb, a prominent writer on race in America for The New Yorker, will be held at Jubilee Hall at 5 p.m. on Feb. 27.

-- Lady Gaga will perform during the Super Bowl 51 halftime show in Houston. She has yet to reveal details regarding her performance.

-- A student from St. Theresa's school in Kenilworth was expelled after her family sued. Sydney Phillips, 12, wanted to play on the boys basketball team after the girls team was disbanded. Phillips' parents sued the school for denying the request, resulting in her expulsion. 

-- Starbucks CEO promised to hire 10,000 refugees globally following President Trump's executive order on immigration. Howard Scultz said the effort would start in the U.S. and that the company is planning to hire refugees from over 75 countries during the next five years.

-- Researchers say heading a soccer ball could be causing concussions for soccer players. A Neurology study found that player who headed an average of 125 balls over two week were three times more vulnerable to concussion

-- Seton Hall University President, Dr. A. Gabriel Esteban, released a statement about the executive order, encouraging those affected to contact the Office of International Programs and the Office of the Provost. Members of the community may also reach out to SHU's Counseling and Psychological Services and Campus Ministry for support.

-- Students, faculty, staff, and community members joined together on the campus of Seton Hall University on Jan. 21 to take part in a peace vigil. Held in the wake of President Donald Trump's executive order, speeches and prayers were shared among the crowd of approximately 50 individuals.
