Seton Hall defeated Providence and improved to 17-5 on the season and 6-3 in conference play after a 73-57 win behind 23 points from Khadeen Carrington and another double-double from Angel Delgado.

The first half started slow for both teams as both sides struggle to get shots to fall and couldn't gain a big lead over the other. There were five lead changes within the first 11 minutes of the game and the biggest lead up to that point was six points for the Pirates. After falling down by two points with 8:33 left in the first half, Seton Hall proceeded to go on a 19-0 run over the next five minutes of play to give them a 36-19 lead. That 19-0 run was fueled by six points off two three-point shots from Carrington and six points off two baskets and a made free-throw from Desi Rodriguez.

"The guys were moving the ball very well and playing a lot of defense," Delgado said about the run.

Seton Hall was able to hold off Providence from doing too much damage going into halftime, with the Pirates leading 41-26 at the half. Carrington was the star of the half leading all players with 14 points at 5 assists at the break.

Carrington kept his hot streak going as he grabbed the first points of the second half with a layup and also got two assists in the first five minutes of play in the second. The Pirates were up big the entire second half and they continued to play very well on both sides of the ball. Offensively they shot 52 percent from the field in the second half and 37 percent from behind the three point line. They were also able to hold Providence to only one made three in the second half for a shooting percentage of 11 percent.

"The coaches did a good job of getting everybody prepared," Myles Powell said about the team defense. "I felt like everybody was zoned in."

Seton Hall outscored Providence 32-31 in the second half and won the game by a final score of 73-57. Carrington finished with 23 points, seven assists, and only one turnover while also shooting 9-for-14 from the field. Delgado recorded another double-double, which is his 16th of the season and 66th of his career. Delgado finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds on the same night he was being honored for breaking the all-time rebounding record in the Big East.

Seton Hall next plays against No. 1 ranked Villanova on Sunday Feb. 4 at 12 p.m. Tune into 89.5 FM WSOU for live coverage of the game.
