OMAHA- The Creighton Bluejays looked to avenge their late December loss against No. 19 Seton Hall on their home court in Omaha and did just that as they toppled the Pirates by a final score of 80-63.

With less than three minutes into the first half, the Bluejays went on an 8-0 run and silenced the Pirates offense. Desi Rodriguez was the only Pirate to find the basket as he scored four points in the opening minutes while the Bluejays led Seton Hall 20-4. He was the lone scorer until Myles Powell's layup seven minutes in.

Rodriguez only played six minutes in this game before being benched for the remainder of the game.

"He had that look on his face that he just didn't want to be out there," Head Coach Kevin Willard said on the benching. "When he gets that way, you just kind of let him regroup and refocus, and it just didn't happen."

The Hall cut their deficit down to seven entering the second half and went on an 8-0 run with 2:15 remaining in the first. This momentum couldn't be maintained as Seton Hall started the first seconds of the second half with a traveling violation called on Myles Powell, which would set the tone for the rest of the half.

With 8:27 remaining in the game, an offensive foul turned flagrant one for unnecessary contact with Toby Hegner was called on Angel Delgado. Already plagued with four personal fouls, Delgado, one of the Hall's senior standouts, was digging the Pirates into a deeper hole.

Guard Marcus Foster led the Bluejays with 25 points in his 28 minutes played and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Powell was the leading scorer for the Pirates with 19 points. He was the only player on Seton Hall to score in double figures. The Pirates were outshot in field goals, three-pointers and free throws.

Seton Hall takes on No. 11 Xavier at home on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Coverage will begin at 2:00 p.m. on WSOU 89.5 FM, wsou.net and WSOU on iHeartRadio.
