Date: May 5, 2018

By: Wilnir Louis

Seton Hall drops the first game of the weekend series with the Creighton Blue Jays 4-2. It was a close game all throughout the whole the nine innings.

Creighton got out to a lead early in the bottom of the first inning by way of a home run to right field by Will Robertson. Creighton would then extend to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning after an RBI double by Clark Brinkman. Seton Hall would then respond in the ensuing frame as Tyler Shedler-Mcavoy would bring Mike Alescio home.

In the bottom of the 4th, Seton Hall was able to minimize the damage done by Creighton. Creighton would gain another run by an RBI single by Ryan Mantle. However, when bases were loaded for Creighton in the inning, they were able to get a fly out to be down 3-1 after four innings.

The score would remain the same until the top of the seventh inning. A hit by Christian Del Castillo followed by walks for Connor Hood and Rob Dadona would load the bases for the hall. Santorelli was able to get the sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to only one run. Creighton would then respond in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI double by Robertson to bring the score to 4-2.

The Pirates will look to regain their momentum against Creighton on Saturday. The first pitch of that game is expected to be thrown at 7:30 p.m.
