No. 15 Pirates Coast to Victory over Saint Peter's

Date: December 13, 2017

By: Angelo Maltese

The Pirates were off to the races from the tip-off, scoring first and never looking back on their way to an 84-61 victory over the Saint Peter's Peacocks in South Orange. The Pirates have now won 26 consecutive non-conference home games when playing inside Walsh Gym.

Senior duo Angel Delgado and Desi Rodriguez spearheaded the offensive firepower as Delgado tallied 18 points, while Desi was right behind him finishing with 17 points in the truest of home games for the Pirates at Walsh Gym. In the effort, Delgado also notched his seventh double-double of the season, accompanying his scoring with 11 boards. Khadeen Carrington was active on both ends of the ball, finishing with a line of 11 points and five assists. The senior guard was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.

As a team, Seton Hall shot 51 percent from the field, many coming from in the paint where they outscored the Peacocks 46-22. The Pirates were sharing the ball well too, collecting 19 assists as a whole, with seven different players picking up two or more dimes.

The tilt in score allowed coach Kevin Willard to get some extra playing time for role players on the roster. The Pirates went 11 players deep today against the Peacocks, with every player notching points in the box score. This depth is something that Coach Willard touched on in postgame.

"The more time they [young role players] get...the more comfortable they will be when the Big East play comes."

With the win, Seton Hall now boasts a five game win streak going into the Garden State Hardwood Classic. The rivalry between the Seton Hall Pirates and Rutgers Scarlet Knights will be renewed this Saturday at the RAC in Piscataway, New Jersey. Tip-off is scheduled for noon, with pregame coverage starting on 89.5 FM WSOU at 11:45 AM.
