In their first game on Saturday, Seton Hall fell to Wichita State 4-3 in the Sam Houston Tournament.

The Hall got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first due to a homer from senior Alexis Walkden in the top of the inning. In the second, the Pirates added on to their lead with an RBI single from Ragen Reddick to score Darby Pandolfo. Wichita State had base runners on in each inning but failed to bring them across the plate.

The Shockers brought their first run home in the bottom of the third off a double by Ryleigh Buck to score Morgan Palmer to bring them within two. In the fifth, the Pirates went down in order. A pair of errors from shortstop Reddick allowed three Shockers to score, giving them a 4-3 lead.

The Pirates last chance to take back the lead came in the sixth when Hayley Arteaga tripled down the right-field line, but Seton Hall left her on base. In the top of the seventh, the Pirates went down in order, handing Reganne Camp the loss. Camp pitched six innings; allowed seven hits, one earned run, and struck out one.

In their second game of action, the Pirates were shutout by No. 4 Washington 10-0.

In the bottom of the fist, Chrisa Head worked herself into two bases-loaded jams. The righty gave up two singles and a walk to load the bases for Taryn Atlee who singled to drive in two. Head walked another Husky to load the bases again but escaped further damage.

The Pirates were sent down in order in the second inning, while the Huskies came back swinging. Head gave up a hit to Washington's Kelly Burdick, who scored on a wild pitch. Washington's Sis Bate hit a two-run shot to bring the Huskies' lead to 5-0 and knocked Head out of the game in the second.

An opportunity to get on the board came for the Pirates in the top of the third after Head walked. Freshman Peyton Beaver singled to break up the Huskies' no-hitter, but both Pirates were left on base. In the bottom of the inning, Mo Sobel held Washington to one run, giving them a 6-0 lead.

Seton Hall had another chance to get across the plate in the fourth after a single by Janae Barracato and Jaden Tate being hit by a pitch. Head who came in as the defensive player for Brianna Wallace left them stranded.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Huskies scored four runs, two being unearned due to errors from Reddick and first base Alyssa Prunkop. The Pirates left one on in the top of the fifth to end the game and give the Huskies as 10-0 victory.

Head picked up her second loss of the season and is now 0-2. Reddick and Beaver had the two lone hits for the Pirates while Reddick committed two of the four errors.

The Pirates are now 4-4 on the season and are back in action next Friday February 23, in Greensboro, North Carolina as they take on Appalachian State.
