Parkway Drive Interview

Date: August 5, 2015

Erica interviews Winston from Parkway Drive about on the bands new album, "Ire" and the single "Vicegrip" as well as the bands influences, living in Australia, and more!

Below these excerpts is a full audio version.

On what went in to making their new song "Vicegrip"

"If you've heard Parkway in the past you will notice a difference, there is a lot more melody in it, it is one of the songs on the record that jumps out at you more because it is more melodic hen most things that we realize. Its one of the first songs for the actual record that we did. The whole concept for the record was literally trying to figure out what we did as a band which are melody and aggression and use those to the maximum effect"

Talking about Their new record "Ire"

"The new record is heavy, I say more melodic, meaning when there is melody it sticks out more when there's heaviness you notice it a lot more, its definitely got of different elements in it that what we've done in the past, there's a lot of reworking of everything we've done from what we done in the past

On the writing and recording process for "Ire"

"It was very intense and very fun. We put more time and and effort in to writing this record than any thing in the past and that mainly came down to wanting to fact that we wanted to steer away and commit ourselves to whiting stylistic in a way that we weren't familiar with. When you record records for 10 years you are very use to the process and your style and you feel like you can do it in your sleep but then you also have your ego saying, "Great you know how to write a song, don't listen to anyone else.", and then when you try to something different you start to have internal battles in the band and with each other and with your self, and actually its not so much about second guessing its about when someone gives you criticism actually listing to it and that it could be something that I can do to make it better."

Featuring on Thy Art is Murder's "Coffin Dragger"

"They (Thy Art is Murder)are legends, they are great dudes. We only played played a few shows with them because they just blewup and killing it on tours. ... working on that track was rad, CJ sent me an e-mail asking if I wanted to sing on the track. and worked on it at home and sent it down. And I'm really proud about how it came out."
