Date: March 3, 2019

It was junior Noah Thompson that led the way for Seton Hall in a 3-0 victory over Virginia in game one of the doubleheader, the Pirates’ first of the season.

Thompson dominated today’s matchup striking out six, while only allowing two hits in 8.1 innings. The Pirates used two other pitchers, Ryan McLinskey and Corey Sawyer, to finish out the game and secure the victory.

At the plate, the Pirates jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Tyler Shedler-McAvoy scored off of a double-play grounder from Casey Dana in the 1st inning. Then, in the top of the 4th inning, the Pirates added two more runs with Matt Toke and freshman Alex Clyde driving them in.

The Pirates will conclude the series tomorrow morning at 9:30 am, and then will be back in action on Tuesday, March 5 against NJIT in Lyndhurst, N.J. before heading to Miami for a three-game series versus Florida International.
