Seton Hall
New Music for 7/27/15
Date: July 27, 2015Here's the batch of new music that arrived at the station this week:
Sevendust - Thank You
WSOU broke
Sevendust in the NY Market so they're a huge band for us. We were one of
the few stations to have the song before it was debuted online today
(Monday the 27th). This song has a really catchy hook along with some
heavy bridges.
RIYL: Mudvayne, Nonpoint, KornKataklysm - Soul Destoryer
One
of the older death metal bands, and one of the few huge ones from
Canada. But even though they keep a pretty straight death metal sound,
they have a lot of groove within their instrumentals and it is not
overly scary for people who aren't 100% in on death metal.
RIYL: Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Vader
Soilwork - The Ride Majestic
Although
from a different part of Sweden, Soilwork are one of the most
identifiable Gothenburg death metal bands. They have really impressive
cleans, swooping (that was for you, DJ Habenyero) melodies, and heavy
unclean vocals. Pretty much your normal Soilwork song, but that is an
amazing thing.
RIYL Scary Symmetry, Dark Tranquility, Arch Enemy
Atreyu - Long Live
After
a (not so) quick five year hiatus, Atreyu is back. They did a couple
area shows earlier this year, but are now ready to finally jump back in
with the same sound they made popular. They're a metalcore band that
acts like an 80s glam band which makes their shows very interesting.
RIYL: Bullet for my Valentine, Killswitch Engage, From Autumn to Ashes
Stray From the Path - Outbreak
I
like calling SFTP "Rage Against the Machine-core" but that is a huge
compliment. Their tone has huge RATM vibes, but they add a hardcore
element to it But seriously, if you don't hear Tom Morello in that
guitar tone, I have no idea what you're listening to.
RIYL: Rage Against the Machine, Counterparts, Architects
Teenage Time Killers - Ignorant People
Teenage
Time Killers are the collaboration super group spearheaded by a couple
of the dudes in Corrosion of Conformity. They get guest vocalists and
musicians on all their tracks, and this one has Tony from Municipal
Waste/Iron Reagan and Nick Oliveri (ex-Queens of the Stone
Age/Kyuss/Mondo Generator).
RIYL: Iron Reagan, Municipal Waste, DRI
Agent Fresco - The Autumn Red
Agent
Fresco are a huge deal in their homeland of Iceland. Much like the
bands I listed below, they have a real aggressive vibe while still
having really melodic and alternative music. RIYL: Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria, Deftones
Xandria - Voyage of the Fallen
A
pretty old German power metal band. At this point you pretty much know
what to expect from female fronted power metal so I don't need to sell
you on it, because people who love it are super into it.
RIYL: Nightwish, Epica, Sabaton
Windhand - Two Urns
This
band is really picking up steam (as are a lot of bands in the same
stoner/doom scene that they're in, such as Pallbearer). Along with their
doomy sections, they have some really nice guitar solos laced in the
middle, which really give me a huge Kyuss vibe.
RIYL: Sleep, Pallbearer, Kyuss
As always, you can expect to hear these tracks and more on 89.5 FM WSOU!
