New Music for 7/20/15

Date: July 20, 2015

Here's the third new music additions for July:

Rivers of Nihil - Perpetual Growth Machine

I don't know what it is about Reading, Pennsylvania that wants bands to make incredibly technical and heavy, yet melodic death metal (see: Black Crown Initiate) but this band is about to blow up. This is their second album on Metal Blade Records and they take that Gojira inspired "Elephant Stomp Riff (thanks Metalsucks for naming that) and making it that much heavier.

RIYL: Allegaeon, Gojira, Revocation

Symphony X - Nevermore

Really proggy power metal, but what else can you expect from Dream Theater. This is one of the most anticipated releases in their genre and the reviews its getting are already really positive.

RIYL: Dream Theater, Star One, Angra

Counterparts - Tragedy

Counterparts are a melodic hardcore/metalcore band that are releasing their label debut with Pure Noise Records. One of the better known bands in the melodic hardcore genre, so if you like anything that came out of that, you'll love this.

RIYL: The Ghost Inside, Hundreth, Defeater

Sirens and Sailors - Chorus of the Dead

Sirens and Sailors are on warped tour right now, but are a lot heavier than your typical warped tour band. They play a very Parkway Drive style of metalcore, with mostly heavy riffs and not too many cleans.

RIYL: The Ghost Inside, August Burns Red, I Killed The Prom Queen

Mutoid Man - Reptilian Soul

This album just dropped and a lot of media already have it placing on their end of the year top tens. Literally every single song starts off with a bang, with fast licks, heavy riffs and really good singing. You'll probably hear me talk about how great this album is a lot.

RIYL: Black Breath, Royal Thunder, American Sharks

Sonick Plague - One Swift Kick

They used to be a decent sized crossover band in the 80s, then they decided to all get married and settle down in 89. They got bored, I guess, and they re-released their first album with some new material, so the production value is great but it still has that 80s crossover vibe to it.

RIYL: Slayer, Sworn Enemy, DRI

You can expect to hear all of these tracks and more only on 89.5 FM WSOU!
