New Music 2/22/16

Date: February 22, 2016

Here's the new music for this week:

Holy Grail - No More Heroes

A power metal band from California, which is pretty unique as they follow a European power metal/heavy metal scene. The band is formed of ex-Whit Wizard members, so they sound like an older band even though they've only been together for less than ten years.

RIYL: White Wizard, 3 Inches of Blood, Stiker)

Primitive Weapons - The Electric Drama

Primitive Weapons are a band that takes a modern approach on a hardcore sound, as they mix metal with the frantic-ness of their music. Their singer is also the singer of White  Widows Pact and he also owns Saint Vitus Bar.

RIYL: White Widows Pact, Dillinger Escape Plan, Today is the Day

Walls of Jericho - Relentless

Walls of Jericho's singer, Candace, is probably the most prominent woman in the hardcore movement, and this new album is highly anticipated. They're another band that tries to include positive messages in their music.

RIYL: Hatebreed, Sworn Enemy, Terror

Anvil - Up, Down, Sideways

An old school thrash band that sounds like they have for 38 years now. Give them props for not changing their sound for their last almost 40 years, and that consistency has given them a solid fan base for that time.

RIYL: Metal Church, Raven, Saxon

Entombed A.D. - The Winner has Lost

After Entombed broke up, one of the lineups that was more popular during the Entombed years started a new band with the Entombed A.D. name. This is their second album in two years under it and they sound just like the classic lineup.

RIYL: Vallenfyre, Entrials, Misery Index

The Unguided - Boneyard

The Unguided are a melodic death metal outfit that incorporates clean singing and some metalcore elements as well. They formed with all ex Sonic Syndicate members and have kept that sound.

RIYL: Sonic Syndicate, Soilwork, Killswitch Engage

Moretta - Diminshing

Moretta are a post hardcore outfit, that sounds like the older Senses Fail lineups. They have a metallic edge to them at times, but stick to that post hardcore/emo sound for the most part.

RIYL: Senses Fail, Conquer Divide, Annisokay
