Mat Uychich Interview

Date: November 12, 2017

On Saturday October 21st,2017, Jersey natives The Front Bottoms sold out The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ. The band, started by childhood friends Brian Sella and Mat Uychich in August 2007, has been playing for 10 years now. While they started in small basement shows, they now play 2,000+ capacity venues. The band's latest and sixth full album was released on October 13th, titled, Going Grey. For WSOU’s metal listeners, drummer Mat Uychich describes their sound as “It’s fun and it’s cool and you can dance. You can just have a good time, which is what music is supposed to be about.”

Sella and Uychich played classics like "Skeleton", "West Virginia", "Maps", "Au Revoir", and "Twin Size Mattress." Several new tracks from Going Grey were performed as well including "Vacation Town" which was an early release. The album released only a week or so ago, was well rehearsed by fans, there was no shortage of voices in the crowd. Uychich told me after this tour, The Front Bottoms tour Europe, and plan to keep writing and making more music.
