WSOU Exclusive: GWAR Interview

Date: August 12, 2015

Brian got a chance to interview Pustulus Maximus from GWAR! Brian asks him about this year's GWAR-B-Q, new music, the GWAR Bar, and more!

Below the excerpts is a full audio version.

On what GWAR has been doing lately:

"A whole lot of sleeping, you know, anything we can do to take our mind off of actual business. Selling out. We've been selling out or at least trying to sell out. I know me, I've been tuning down our guitars. We're trying to tune them down to G or X or something like that, and we're gonna play way less notes, because I feel like that's how these bands have been making money, playing two instead of three chords... "There's no money above the fifth fret" as management likes to say."

On playing new music at the GWAR-B-Q:

"I don't know, I can't really say. No no no, we're just going to play all of the most disappointing things. I've been lobbying for a long time, I think for GWAR-B-Q we're gonna play S** Cow for 45 minutes... What song do you hate? that's the one I'm gonna play for 30 minutes, straight... We're just gonna play the intros from a few albums and leave..."

On cover songs:

"I thought the worst song we could ever cover was Kansas, Carry on My Wayward Son and that was pretty bad. Then we come back and do what Billy Ocean? And it just gets worse with the Petshop Boys. And we're gonna do another awful one. Everyone thinks they're my idea, they're not my idea. I hate them... I like covers from bands you haven't heard of before. Like the fun things from Australia, who covers Savage? Nobody. One band, the Vikings...You haven't heard of the vikings either. I think the worst cover we could do, We're gonna do it..."

WSOU would like to thank Pustulus for taking the time out of his busy schedule for this awesome interview. For more information on GWAR B Q, check out their website!
