Seton Hall Women’s basketball (4-1 overall) is coming back home to Walsh Gymnasium to face St. Francis Brooklyn (4-1 overall) at the beginning of a three-game home stand after a two game road trip, where they went 1-1.

In their first game of the road trip, they played a thriller at Princeton, coming from behind and defeating the Tigers 70-66. The play of that game was the go-ahead layup by Nicole Jimenez, which gave the Pirates a 68-66 lead with 4.8 seconds left. The player of the game however was Shadeen Samuels, who had 20 points on 9-15 shooting and 10 rebounds to record her second 20-10 double-double. Jimenez had 15 points in this matchup and Inja Butina would round off the double-digit scores for the Pirates with 13 points.

The Pirates would then head across the country to face UCLA, a match where Seton Hall could not find their shooting groove. The Pirates would go down 41-31 in the first half, and UCLA would extend their lead to 20 at the end of the third quarter. For the game, the Pirates shot a season-low 40.3 percent from the floor and 24.0 percent from beyond the arc. They also made a season-low six three-pointers. Samuels would record another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Butina would score double digits alongside Jimenez.

On Sunday, the Pirates will be welcoming a high scoring Terriers team that’s a part of the Northeast Conference. Their lone loss came at the hands of Valparaiso, which went down the wire. St. Francis Brooklyn would respond greatly after that loss, and they went on to beat Morehead State University, 101-94. That game was also the last game the Terriers played. As a team in that game, they shot 55.7 percent from the floor, 65.0 percent from three and 87.0 percent from the free throw line. They shot extremely well in the second half, shooting 20-27 from the floor and 7-8 percent from three in that half.

Leading the charge for the Terriers is Jade Johnson. In their first five games, she is averaging 19.4 points. Ebony Horton and Maria Palarino are also averaging double-digit scoring, averaging 12.6 and 12.0 respectively. Palarino is also helping them on the glass, averaging 6.6 rebounds a game. Right behind her is Dominque Ward, who averages 6.5 boards. As a team, they’re averaging 92.4 points per game.

The Hall will need their offense to resemble their game against Kennesaw State when they put up 102 points, and their defense to resemble their game against Wagener when they only gave up 40 points and held them to 13 second-half points. Tune in on 89.5 FM WSOU or on iHeartRadio for coverage on the game with Erin Kelly and Michael Daly on the call. Tip-off is scheduled at 1 P.M.
