Date: January 8, 2019

The Pirates (11-4 Overall, 2-1 Conf.) will attempt to get back on the right foot in front of their home crowd on Wednesday when they welcome the Butler Bulldogs (10-5 Overall, 1-1 Conf.) to the Prudential Center.

Seton Hall is coming off a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the DePaul Blue Demons. In their last time out on the hardwood, the Pirates were unable to get in an offensive groove early on, and they were down by as much as 15 points in the first half. The Hall never gave up, and they were able to turn the 15-point deficit to a five-point deficit entering the half. The second half was a game of runs for both teams, after Seton Hall brought the game within a point; the Blue Demons went on a run of their own to gain a double-digit lead.

With the efforts of Taurean Thompson, Jared Rhoden, and Myles Powell in the second half, the Pirates were able to trim DePaul’s advantage back down to only one point with a minute left in the ballgame. This situation was one that the Pirates were in plenty of times before, however they found themselves on the short end of a comeback, after a possible game winning shot by Sandro Mamukelashvili fell short, and the Blue Demons won 75-74.

Butler, however, is coming to Newark, NJ off a dominating win against Creighton in Hinkle Fieldhouse, defeating them 84-69 Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs were efficient shooting the basketball in their last contest, making 50.8 percent of the shots that were taken that afternoon. Kamar Baldwin was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs, scoring 28 points on 11-18 shooting. He also added seven assists and five rebounds in the game. Butler also had Joey Brunk and Nate Fowler score in double figures.

On the season, Baldwin averages 16.5 ppg on 42.7% shooting. Paul Jorgensen and Sean McDermott rounds out the double-digit scorers for Butler. The Bulldogs are also currently 0-2 on the season in true road games, with those loses coming against Saint Louis and Florida.

The Hall will be trying to give the audience a show before they head back on the road for a two-game span. All of the action will be given to you live with James Justice and Keith Egan on the call. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 P.M. but coverage on 89.5 FM WSOU will begin at 8:15 P.M.
