Game Preview: Seton Hall hosts UNH for midweek tune up (12/4/18)

The Seton Hall men’s basketball team (4-3 overall) hosts New Hampshire (2-6 overall) at 6:30 pm on Tuesday in the Prudential Center.

The New Hampshire Wildcats are coming off of a 75-65 loss to Bryant on Saturday. In that game, senior guard Jordan Reed led his team in scoring with 13 points. Reed added five rebounds and two assists to the stat sheet and scored nine of his 13 points in the first half.

Heading into the second half of the contest, New Hampshire had a 39-29 advantage over Bryant. The Wildcats relinquished their lead after being outscored 46-26 in the final 20 minutes of action. Only five Wildcat players scored in the second half and three of those five were tied for the half high in scoring, with six points each. Overall, the team shot 41.1% from the field and 50% from behind the arc.

Tuesday’s game at the Prudential Center will be the second half of a two game home-stand for Seton Hall. The first game of the home-stand came on Saturday when the Pirates hosted Louisville. With 12:43 remaining in the first half, the Pirates led the Cardinals 19-7 after Taurean Thompson hit a turnaround jumper. Louisville would finish out the last 12 minutes of the half by outscoring the Pirates 29-15. The first half ended with a leading score by Louisville of 36-34.

The Pirates would regain control of the game in the second half as they lead 59-56 with six minutes and three seconds left. That lead would evaporate after Ryan McMahon’s three pointer with thirty-six seconds left in the game. Louisville went on to win the game 70-65. The Pirates shot 40.3% as a team and were outrebounded 42-28 by Louisville. The leading scorer for the Pirates was Myles Powell with 23 points.
