The Seton Hall women’s soccer team (2-5-4 overall) look to get their first Big East win of the year this Sunday at Owen T. Carroll Field at 1 pm, in the Mary Jennings Memorial game.

The Pirates are coming off of two conference losses. One at home against DePaul, and another at Butler, each of which ended in a 3-0 shutout loss.

Against DePaul, the Pirates kept it scoreless until the 39th minute where Franny Cerny of the Blue Demons began the scoring. They spread the lead with a goal in the 73rd and 83rd minutes to secure the 3-0 win. In the loss, the Pirates were only able to put three shots on goal.

Seton Hall only got off two shots against Butler, both of which were on goal, while the Bulldogs had eighteen shots, and nine on goal. Goalkeeper Anna MacLean’s 6 saves kept the Pirates in it for the first half, but after a quick goal for Butler to kick of the second half, the Hall found themselves in a 2-0 hole. After another goal in the 61st minute, the Pirates could not recover.

Georgetown comes into Sunday ranked seventh in the nation with a 9-0-2 record, making the game quite a challenge for the Pirates. The Hoya’s won their first two Big East games this year against St. John’s and DePaul by a score of 3-0 in each game. Despite putting an equal amount on shots on goal against St. John’s, and less shots on goal than DePaul, Georgetown was able to get off early and secure the shutout win with 14 combined saves in the two games by goalkeeper, Arielle Schetman.

The Pirates are still looking for their first Big East win since 2016 versus Xavier. WSOU will have all the action from the pitch starting at 1 p.m. Sunday. Matt Ambrose and Rich Behan will have the call on 89.5 FM, wsou.net and the iHeartRadio app.
