Head Coach Rick Stainton and the Seton Hall women’s soccer team (2-3-4 overall ) look to get back into the win column as they open Big East play against the DePaul Blue Devils (4-3-2 overall) this Saturday at Owen T. Carroll Field at 1 pm.

The Pirates are coming off of three straight draws over the past week, tying Massachusetts Lowell (2-5-3 overall), Central Connecticut State (6-1-2 overall) and LIU Brooklyn (2-6-2 overall).

In the tie against UMass Lowell, Seton Hall controlled the possession throughout the first half. The Pirates took the lead off a goal from sophomore Cassy Harrigan with an assist from freshman Lizzy Kirk. The Pirates couldn’t keep the lead as senior goalkeeper Anna MacLean allowed a goal in the 85th minute. Seton Hall had a 15-13 edge in shots in the double overtime tie.

In the game against Central Connecticut, Seton Hall drew the Blue Devils thanks to the efforts of MacLean. MacLean picked up her fourth clean slate of the season after saving 10 shots on goal, a season-high. The Pirates had 19 shots on goal while acquiring two corner kicks.

In their latest game Wednesday, Seton Hall fought back to draw LIU Brooklyn 2-2. Both goals came from sophomore Siobhan McGovern. The first came in the 30th minute with a strike off the crossbar from sophomore Dani Camileri to even the score 1-1. LIU Brooklyn scored in two minutes later and maintained the lead until McGovern’s penalty kick goal in the 85th minute. The Pirates finished with 19 shots with MacLean notching five saves.

The DePaul Blue Devils will be a tough challenge for the Pirates, as DePaul looks to bounce back from a 1-0 loss against Alabama Sunday.

DePaul got off to a hot start, winning games against Loyola-Chicago 1-0 and cruising past UMass Lowell 7-0. The Blue Devils have won two games against Big Ten teams, coming against Illinois (3-1 win) and Minnesota (1-0 win).

This matchup will be a test for the Pirates as they aim for their first Big East win since 2016 versus Xavier. WSOU will have all the action from the pitch starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. Frank Frasco and Chris Russo will have the call on 89.5 FM, wsou.net and the iHeartRadio app.
