Game Preview: Men's team hosts Hoyas at 2 pm (10/20/18)

Date: October 20, 2018

The Seton Hall Pirates will play host to the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday, with the conference match kicking off at 2 pm.

Among the many storylines to follow in this match, one that should be closely examined is the amount of playing time that Francisco Alderete receives, as he has been a dynamo off the bench as of late. His last goal came against NJIT on Tuesday, which helped Seton Hall defeat their in-state rivals 1-0.

The Pirates will face a Georgetown team that is currently sitting with a 7-3-3 overall record, with a 3-1-1 record in Big East play. Part of the reason that Georgetown is so special is that they are able to facilitate offense in many different ways. Perhaps their most dynamic player is Kyle Zajec, who has posted three assists and five goals on the season so far.

If you’re a fan of excellent goal keeping, then this is the match for you. The Hoyas have Giannis Nikopolodis between the pipes, and he is having a great season as their keeper. In his 11 starts, he has registered a 0.76 GAA with a .812 save percentage. The Pirates also have an elite goal keeper in net in Andreas Nota. Over his 11 starts, Nota has posted a 0.85 GAA and a .831 save percentage.

With it being Seton Hall University weekend, it only makes sense to honor the past that the men’s team has created. This Saturday, they’ll be honoring the 1988 team that won the Big East title.

In their last match out, Georgetown defeated Villanova 2-1 on double overtime. The Hoyas still hold the series lead over the Pirates, with a 16-18-3 lead.
