Chris Schweitzer's week 10 power five

Date: November 15, 2018

By Christopher Schweitzer

In a wild week 10 of NFL action we saw two top five teams face defeat, and we also saw two separate games feature a team score over 50 points. Both of those 50 point games also featured a top five team, but only one of those teams came out on the winning side.

1. New Orleans Saints – The New Orleans Saints continued their dominance on Sunday when they traveled to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. New Orleans avoided the hangover after beating the Rams last week and scored 51 points on the Bengals. Drew Brees was incredible with three touchdowns and only three incompletions. The defense also forced two turnovers on the Bengals and held them to 14 points.

2. Kansas City Chiefs – The Kansas City Chiefs kept pace in the race for the best record in the league this week when they faced the Arizona Cardinals. Kansas City is now 9-1 on the season after their 26-14 victory on Sunday. The defense was strong on the day and helped out a relatively quiet Chiefs offense that has been unstoppable for most of the season.

3. Los Angeles Rams – The Los Angeles Rams bounced back after their first loss of the season last week with a 36-31 victory over the Seahawks. This is the second time of the season that the Seahawks have given the Rams some trouble, but Los Angeles has come out with the victory both times. The defense has been troubling as of late as they’ve given up nearly 500 yards in each of the last two games but they still managed to beat the Seahawks. Jared Goff was still able to lead the offense to 456 yards and a victory.

4. Los Angeles Chargers – The Los Angeles Chargers have been very good this season with their only two losses coming against the Rams and the Chiefs. They improved to 7-2 on the season after defeating the Oakland Raiders. The Chargers won by the score of 20-6 on Sunday and once again leaned on Melvin Gordon to dominate. Gordon totaled 165 yards from scrimmage as well as one touchdown.

5. Pittsburgh Steelers – The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night and dominated as they scored 52 points. The defense was also impressive as they forced two turnovers and only allowed 21 points. The real star was Ben Roethlisberger as he threw for 328 yards and had more touchdowns (five) than incompletions (three). He has led the Steelers to a 6-2-1 record on the season and is leading one of the best offenses in the league.
