Killswitch Engage Gold RecordWSOU 89.5-FM, Seton Hall University’s radio station and the number-one college radio station in the New York metro area, received a gold record plaque from Roadrunner Records for the station’s support of the band Killswitch Engage. While Roadrunner works with about 1,500 radio stations, WSOU is one of 10 metal stations selected to receive this honor, and the only non-commercial to receive this plaque.

“This honor from Roadrunner Records demonstrates once again that WSOU isn't merely a college station, it is an industry leader and the terrific training ground for those interested in both the broadcasting and music industries,” said Mark Maben, general manager of WSOU. “Another gold record for the wall isn't ho-hum for us, it validates what we do all year on 89.5 FM, presenting the loudest and the newest rock for an eager audience.”

Amy Sciarretto, National Director of Hard Rock Promotions for Roadrunner Records, present WSOU with the gold record plaque. “WSOU has supported Killswitch Engage since their Roadrunner debut, Alive Or Just Breathing, and they have always gone above and beyond to show support for this artist and to help us achieve this sales honor,” said Sciarretto. “WSOU is definitely one of the key, core supporters of the band and I am thrilled to present them with the plaque.”

Originally emerging in New England's hardcore scene, Grammy-nominated Killswitch Engage's unique style of melodic yet driving metal core has helped the band develop a crossover following among fans of many musical styles.

In its 20-plus years as a loud rock station, WSOU has received 15 gold record plaques and 14 platinum record plaques. The station has earned a national reputation for identifying talented and new emerging bands and supporting them until their mainstream breakthroughs.
