NEWARK, NJ - May 8, 2007 - Seton Hall University's WSOU-89.5 FM has teamed up with the Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club to air all Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday Bears games throughout the 2007 baseball season. WSOU also carried the Bears season opener against Somerset on Friday, May 4 at 7:00 PM, and all post-season contests regardless of the day of the week.
In addition to WSOU (www.wsou.net), fans may continue to listen to all 126 regular season games on the internet by visiting the Bears official website at www.newarkbears.com, and clicking on the "Listen to the Live Broadcast" link on the site's home page. Bears Assistant General Manager Jim Cerny will once again have the on-air call for Newark, his fifth season behind the microphone for the team."This partnership is truly a home run for everyone involved," said WSOU General Manager Mark Maben. "Our students will benefit from new experiential-learning opportunities, and the Bears, City of Newark, and our listeners all benefit from the excitement generated by having professional baseball on the radio."
Each game broadcast this season, both on radio and Internet, will be preceded by a fifteen minute pre-game show, presented by Saint Barnabas Healthcare System."We are very excited that our fans will have the opportunity to once again tune in to Newark Bears baseball on WSOU," said Cerny, referring to the Bears having originally aired their games on WSOU from 1999-2002. "WSOU has a terrific signal, and it is an extremely well run station, from the management to the students who will aid in the production of each game broadcast."
The Newark Bears will begin their ninth season at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Tuesday, May 8 against the Bridgeport Bluefish.
